Global Discovery Open Innovation, Amway (USA)
John is a Package Development expert with over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry. He joined Amway in 2011 as a Senior Research Scientist to establish the packaging engineering function at Amway’s satellite New York office. In 2015 John transitioned into the newly formed Global Discovery organization within Amway where he leads the Open Innovation enterprise strategy for digital and interactive packaging across all business units (beauty, nutrition, & home care).
John is an active member of various prominent professional industry organizations such as CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women), CIBS (Cosmetics Industry Buyers and suppliers), and NJPEC (New Jersey Packaging Executives Club) where he has served on the board for several years. In addition to his extensive experience in package development and technology research John also has a passion for public speaking, mentoring, teaching, and people development. He mentors students at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Rutgers University where he received his B.S. in Packaging Engineering.
Prior to joining Amway John spent 5 years at L’Oreal USA as a Senior Development Manager of the Consumer Product Division where he led the complete renovation of the Garnier Fructis Haircare product portfolio. John also founded a Package Development Consultancy firm, Evoke Design, LLC, having MAC Cosmetics being one his clients where he oversaw the successful relaunch of the Brands skincare range.
John is a first generation American, he is a proud New Yorker, where his family relocated to in the late 80s from Cairo Egypt when he was a child. John thrives on the energy of New York and prides himself on being the best self-proclaimed tour guide in town – just ask any of his friends! Outside of his professional life John has many passions such as cooking, food photography, international travel, and bringing people together.
